History

The origins of aplufănt are as of yet, topic of much debate. If you were to ask Eli Snyder, the Prime Minister of the company about how it was discovered, odds are Eli would tell you a fabricated story of how he and his friend Yosef Gillers were merely throwing around ideas of a logo to spoof the current craze of having various wildlife on your expensive polo shirt to prove how expensive it is. He would claim that one idea was an apple, and another was an elephant, so he merely combined the two and created “aplufănt.” Let it be known this tale is a mere guise hiding a truth more mysterious, heartbreaking and brobdingnagian than one could imagine. What the truth is I couldn’t imagine, you’d have to ask Mr. Snyder when he was in a sensitive mood on a certain night in early April. Until then, we recommend you explore the website and read our manifesto to see what you can piece together.

Manifesto

Clothing is a billboard, a tool by which one advertises for a cause. We, at aplufănt have a noble cause, and a novel way to promote it.

In a philosophical sense, we believe that a group, such as a culture or a society, flourishes most when the parts of its sum are themselves unique entities. Thus, our focus is both individual and communal, not exclusively selfish nor solely self-less, but a healthy balance of both. A healthy society should reflect a healthy ecosystem, such as a tropical rainforest - diverse and beautiful. To promote this, we have developed a synergistic fusion icon - the aplufănt, which summarizes this idea quite succinctly - everyone has an important place in this world, be it an apple, elephant, or both.

One of our top priorities is maximizing creativity within the realms of conformity. Sound confusing? It might seem like a novel approach but it is strangely familiar. aplufănt believes that conformity is good when it means conforming to good things. Things like honesty, introspection, non-passivity. Then, within these boundaries, each individual must find his or her potential and maximize it. No two potentials nor purposes are the same. Nonetheless, even if one's an apple another an elephant, they can still form a beautiful synthesis to achieve a goal.

We hope that our mission will inspire members of our society to appreciate diversity, appreciate themselves, and think creatively. We want to promote this in a way that reflects our appreciation for all living creatures, we thus strive to follow a theory called The Triple Bottom Line of profitability: these being economic, social, and environmental. This translates to affordable, moral, and green clothing. For the environment, we try our best to grow our gear in harmony with nature, without polluting or destroying ecosystems. For our communities, we want children to be educated and inspired, not enslaved and stifled. Lastly, we want to strengthen the global economy, with intelligent, moral consumerism; the first step of which starts here, in America.

We have worked and studied for five years to refine our message, and to understand how best to spread it. We recognize the beauty of the creative process (and of life, too) that no matter how hard we work, there is yet more to accomplish. Always. We welcome your energy, encouragement, and feedback as we continue to bring many more smiles to many more faces.

Be your own apple or elephant, whichever fits within the big picture.
